Funded PhD position related to mobility available in Singapore

nanyangThe Public Policy and Global Affairs programme at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore is seeking to appoint a PhD research fellow to work on the project ‘Competing for talent in a globalized world’ (COMPETE). This project is funded by NTU’s start-up grant under the elite Nanyang Assistant Professor scheme.

The fellow will work closely with Dr Meng-Hsuan Chou (Nanyang Assistant Professor, PI) and Dr Lucie Cerna (COMPAS, University of Oxford, research associate affiliated with the project) to deliver research results on three work packages (national strategies, added-value of regional cooperation, and brain circulation). The successful applicant will contribute to preparing several theoretically-grounded empirical articles using the data collected. In addition, the research fellow will conduct his/her research that leads to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in public policy and administration under the supervision of Dr Chou and Dr Cerna.

A suitable candidate will be a team player with a first class honours degree (Masters) from migration studies, public policy, political science or related disciplines; solid research training in policy analysis, quantitative methods (preferably familiarity with STATA) as well as interviewing; and a strong interest in migration, the health care sector or development policies.

The post will be funded for 3 years (full tuition coverage, conference and fieldwork support, and a generous monthly stipend), with the possibility of extension subject to funding, to start in August 2014.
